Beam Splitters
Beam Splitter Coatings Visimax designs and manufactures precision beam splitter coatings engineered to divide light with controlled reflectance and transmission while maintaining optical performance and durability. These coatings are produced in-house using controlled vacuum deposition processes, with a focus on ratio accuracy, uniformity, and repeatability. Beam splitter coatings are available across visible and infrared wavelength ranges and can be applied to a variety of optical substrates and component geometries.
Standard Ratio Beam Splitter Coatings
Visimax offers standard ratio beam splitter coatings designed for predictable, repeatable optical performance in common beam-splitting applications.
Typical characteristics include:
- Common split ratios, such as 50/50, 70/30, and 90/10
- Broadband or narrowband designs across visible and infrared wavelengths
- Low wavefront distortion and controlled spectral behavior
- Compatibility with common optical substrates, including glass and fused silica
- Production-proven designs qualified for uniformity and repeatability
These coatings are well suited for imaging systems, metrology, sensors, and general optical assemblies, and are available from prototype through high-volume production.

Application-Specific & System-Optimized Beam Splitters
For systems with tighter optical tolerances or non-standard requirements, Visimax provides custom beam splitter coatings optimized for specific application conditions.
Custom beam splitter solutions may include:
- Wavelength-specific split ratios for narrowband or laser-based systems
- Angle-of-incidence optimization for non-normal incidence designs
- Polarization-sensitive beam splitters (s- and p-state control)
- Integration with anti-reflection or protective coatings on secondary surfaces
- Substrate-specific designs to control ghosting, color balance, or thermal behavior
These coatings are engineered as part of the overall optical system, ensuring stable performance across the intended operating environment.
This is our onboarding process
We make getting started fast and predictable. Together we capture your optical goals, translate them into a thin-film design, and validate performance before scaling. Clear hand-offs, no surprises.

Requirements & scope
Define application, wavelength range, substrates, environment, target transmission/reflectance, and timeline. Capture risks and constraints, and align on measurable success criteria.
Thin-film design & simulation
Design the stack and simulate the spectral response across your range. Present options with trade-offs and tolerances, then lock the baseline design.
Prototype & metrology
Produce representative sample coatings for evaluation. Measure via spectrophotometry/interferometry and share trace + variance to target.
Production & quality
Scale to batch or volume with tight process control. Run repeatability checks, document QA, and approve first-article before full run.
Delivery & support
Pack and ship to spec with certificates and reports. Provide ongoing technical support and iterate when requirements evolve.
